Skywatch - FAQs

General Questions

What is the typical turnaround time?

We can deliver edited still photos within 24 hours following the time of the shoot. Aerial Videos require a longer editing period and are typically delivered 2-3 days after the shoot.

How much notice do you need before a shoot?

We would ideally like our clients to reach out to us one week before the shoot date. Depending on the circumstances, we might be able to accommodate your request within 2-4 days of the notice.

How long does the average shoot take?

A typical aerial shoot takes between 60-90 minutes depending on the size of the property. If you are having 3D Virtual Tours as well, this can require another additional hour at least. In order to assure prompt and timely service, we ask that the property is ready by the time the photographer / drone operator is scheduled to arrive.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require a 24-hour notice before cancellation of the shoot. Any cancellations made within 24 hours will incur a fee equal to 50% of the total shoot. And if the cancellation happens during the commute, the travel fee will also apply.

How will I get my files?

For most projects, we will deliver edited digital photos to you via Google Drive within 24 hours following the completion of the shoot. If your project requires additional post-processing work including mapping, video editing, or image stitching, delivery time can take several days. You will receive an email that includes a link to your online photo gallery where you can download all of these files to a local device. Virtual tours and Matterport will be delivered using the proper format.

Do I need to be on-site for the shoot?

It is typically not necessary for you to be on-site for the shoot; however, you are welcome to join us if you feel it will be beneficial. Our pilots are trained professionals and can capture high-quality imagery in just about any setting. Please note that if you do opt to join us on the shoot, scheduling times might be delayed as this will have to be coordinated with multiple parties. We will share our project intake form with you prior to scheduling the project. This form allows you to describe your preferences, goals, and objectives in full detail. Most of our clients choose to communicate online or over the phone.

What kind of weather would be best for the shoot?

This depends on what you are trying to accomplish and your personal preferences. For marketing photos, many professionals prefer partly cloudy weather because of the abundant sunlight along with just enough clouds in the sky to display texture in the photos.

Can you fly near airports and other sensitive locations?

It depends. Although it is true there are some locations and areas that are either off-limits or have additional height restrictions, we can fly near, or even at, most locations IF WE CAN obtain the necessary legal permission.

If you are unsure of the viability of a particular location, shoot us an email or give us a call. We're happy to help take a look!

Drone Imagery Questions

What is the typical turnaround time?

This largely depends on the nature of your project and the size of the property. Our typical turn around time is 24-48 hours per draft. Subsequent rounds of review usually take about 24 hours.

What kind of drones do you fly?

Our pilots almost exclusively fly drones manufactured by DJI Enterprise. DJI is the industry leader and currently owns approximately 70% market share. The specific model of drone that will be used on your project can vary; however, all are minimally equipped with cameras capable of shooting video in 4K resolution.

What photo resolution can I expect?

We deliver only high-resolution imagery to our clients. Please specify the format of the photos that you would like us to use: RW, DNG, JPEG, etc.
